Fix Washington's upside down tax code! Tell the WA legislature to pass a capital gains tax NOW!

Washington State has the most regressive tax code in the nation. A family earning just $20,000 a year pays almost 18% of its income on state and local taxes, while Washington’s millionaires and billionaires pay less than 3%. That needs to change – and we can’t do it without grassroots activists like you pressuring our elected officials.

We can’t let trickle-down evangelists hold our tax code hostage. It’s upside-down, it’s anti-growth, and it’s making it impossible for the state to adequately fund education, health care, transportation, housing, and other crucial public investments on which a thriving economy is built.

A capital gains tax would only affect 8,000 families making more than $250,000 on the sale of high-value assets like stocks, bonds, or commercial real estate. Under the new tax, they would pay a tax of 8.9% on profits above that $250,000 threshold.

We need you to make your voice heard right now before the session closes and the legislature gives up on this important issue for the year: Will you add your voice now and email your state representatives?
